Habitats & Lanscapes
The spectacular beauty of Planargia is mainly due to its orography, as well as to its geological structure, i.e. to the planar characteristic asset of a series of volcanic and sedimentary hills that slope down towards the coast, and which seems indeed to give ground to the historical name of the same region. But what makes it really unique is the fact that the in such a small geographic area are represented almost all of the ecosystems of the island, from the sea to the coast, from the mountain to the river, with the sole exception of wetlands and marshlands, anyway marking the nearby area of Sinis, south of Planargia and within the Province of Oristano.
The great geo-morphological and phyto-climatic variety of Planargia has indeed led to a remarkable diversity of its ecosystems, more than confirmed not only by the extraordinary botanical and ecological interest of a series of breathtaking and fascinating natural habitats and landscapes, but also by the high numbers of fauna and birds species that have chosen this area to live and make love.
